Green Link is an NPO providing an enabling environment for Job Creation within the Circular Economy. Services provided include recruiting suitable candidates (focused on women), providing basic training to become participants in the Waste Recycling environment as well as training on using the Green Link App. The Green Link business model ensures Sustainable Green Jobs while also contributing to the Circular Economy, aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Our Vision
“Meet Thandiwe, she is currently unemployed. Thandiwe is probably unaware of the many opportunities that exist in the Circular Economy for her to become self employed and create a better life for her and her family. Currently, most of the waste generated by households and businesses end up in municipal landfill site. This is largely due to inconvenience and a lack of coordination to turn “Trash into Treasure”. Thandiwe needs to become part of the Green Link initiative. This initiative will equip her to become a vital role player in the recycling value chain in her community. Thandiwe will be able to connect with waste generators (households, businesses, etc) and simplify the process of linking them to waste collectors who will on sell the waste to recyclers in the area. Imagine Thandiwe, once she has been through the Green Link training process approach a business in her community.
“Hi, I am Thandiwe. I would like to assist you in getting
rid of your waste in an environment friendly way, easy and conveniently. All
you have to do is to download the free Green Link mobile app, specify what
category of waste, approximate quantity you would like me to collect. You
select the convenient timeslots and contact details, and I will arrange to have
it collected. I will on sell the waste to the appropriate waste recyclers for
my financial benefit. Just think of it, Mr/Mrs Business owner, you are actually
contributing towards 2 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals,
namely SDG 8 (Job Creation) and SDG 12 (Circular Economy)!! In addition to
this, you can boast to your environmentally climate conscience customers that
you are proactively contributing to ESG targets. Should you donate to the Green
Link NPO, you can possibly claim BEE scorecard benefits (ESD, SED and CSI etc),
while receiving comprehensive feedback via the Green Link digital mobile app to
substantiate the IMPACT of your contributions!! This is
a win- win for multiple role players; you as a business owner, protecting the
earth from our climate threats, boosting the recyclers who now have more waste
available to recycle and me, Thandiwe, who am now able to make a sustainable

Purpose of initiative is to proactively support
2 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, namely SDG 8 (Job Creation) and 12
(Circular Economy)
Ø
Funding can be justified as ESG (Environment
Sustainability and Governance) contributions as has become more important for
consumers in recent times, portraying a positive corporate image by supporting worthwhile
causes.
Ø
Funding can also be justified as benefits for
BEE Scorecard compliance as Enterprise Development and/or Social Enterprise
Development (CSI).
Ø
Funders may have specific people they would like
to introduce into the initiative to be trained and mentored in making a decent
living from the Circular Economy and the many opportunities that it presents.
Ø
In return funders will receive regular
comprehensive feedback on the progress of projects (and/or nominated
individuals) for their own info.
Ø
The digital platform, once fully developed, will
have extensive reporting functionality to provide the relevant info for
funders, whether for ESG purposes and/or BEE scorecard compliance.
Ø Funders will receive (with their permission) publicity on all Green Link social media platforms.
